Judi Patton
Our Namesake Judi Conway Patton served as First Lady of Kentucky from 1995-2003. During this time, she worked tirelessly on behalf of abused children and worked to establish children's advocacy centers across the Commonwealth. In recognition of her work on the local and state level, our children's advocacy center is named in her honor. Judi continues to serve on the Board of Directors. |
Our Mission
Judi’s Place for Kids – a bright solution for abused children - a community working together promoting safety and justice, offering hope and healing so that all may thrive and reach their full potential.
Our History
Founded in 1999, Judi’s Place for Kids is named for Kentucky’s Former First Lady Judi Patton to recognize her involvement in the establishment of children’s advocacy centers across Kentucky and particularly the local center formed here in Pikeville, her hometown. The center opened in its first home in 2001 and moved in 2008 in order to better serve children. Judi’s Place for Kids obtained accreditation from the National Children’s Alliance in 2009, recognizing its adherence to national standards for children’s advocacy centers.
Our Future
Judi’s Place for Kids is committed to remaining up to date in the best practices in serving abused children through employment of well qualified staff members who receive ongoing training and development. We will continue to place the needs of the children first while continuing to advance the multi-disciplinary team approach. We are also pursuing funding to continue to maintain and improve our building to better meet the needs. Our future depends on you!
Our Partnerships
Judi’s Place for Kids depends on a variety of partnerships, including accreditation by National Children's Alliance, membership in the Kentucky Association of Children's Advocacy Centers, and the Kentucky CASA Network. Judi's Place for Kids also relies on the support of the Child Victim's Trust Fund to assist with the costs of medical examinations, as well as United Way of Eastern Kentucky. Additionally, we are a member of the Kentucky Nonprofit Network, the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and the Floyd County Chamber of Commerce.
